My name is Gabrielle Ledesma, I am a designer and recent graduate from Mount Mary University with a graduate certificate in Fashion Design. I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice at the University of Wisconsin- Madison in May of 2021.

Sewing first piqued my interest at the age of 14, when my mother bought a sewing machine. I started small, making repairs to my clothing and soon found myself reworking clothes and enjoying at-home sewing. I received my very own sewing machine while in college, and started designing and creating my own clothes, and selling them through Depop and social media. It was during this time that I decided I wanted to pursue a career in fashion design.

Throughout both my undergrad degree and graduate certificate, I exposed myself to various aspects of both fashion and art. I studied figure drawing, pattern making, CAD, metalsmithing, machine knitting, and tailoring to name a few. Currently, I am working at Visions Upholstery as a sewer and learning about pattern making odd shapes, draping large pieces, sewing with thick materials (vinyl, leather, plastic, and canvas). I want to continue learning more about fashion, and create works of art that reflect my desire to give back through design. Thank you for reading my story, please reach out if you have any questions about me or my background.
